Finally got myself checked in here.  I'm not terribly good at keeping tabs in many different social media places.  In the way of a humorous first post, you know how we talk about dealing with distractions--which may include pain--during meditation by observing it and letting it go?  Well, here is a different take on that:  what happens when a professional orchestra consumes chili peppers.

Hello to All,
How wonderful is this? Thank you Eric, for putting the blog together. I'm just checking in for now and will make time soon to contribute something a little more heart-felt. For now I say "HELLO".

We are a group of people united by no particular faith or religious practice, merely by the desire to practice meditation in a group.

There are numerous types of meditation practice. One of the simplest forms of meditation practice is usually called "mindfulness mediation," a practice often associated with Zen Buddhism. This article includes some standard advice. I have no quarrel with any of it, but I will add one other tip. When one is sitting, it is often helpful to keep the eyes focused - but not tightly focused - on a spot about four to six feet or so in front of where you are sitting. If the eyes are staying in one place, then the thoughts are also less likely to be flying around.

Welcome to the Hagerstown Meditation Group!
We are simply a group of people
who meditate
in Hagerstown.
We meet every Wednesday
at the Mulberry Street Lofts,
Hagerstown at 6 p.m
Plenty of parking in the back!
